Kinder FAQs
Questions about kinder
Not sure which option is right for you? Call us and we’ll talk it through.
Is Free Sessional Kinder really free?
Yes, for eligible children. There’s no kindergarten fee for the Monday and Wednesday program, and it runs a full 8:30am–4:00pm day with lunch included. If you work, you can add before and after care from 7am to 6pm, all in one place.
What’s the difference between sessional and integrated kinder?
Sessional kinder runs on set days during Victorian school terms. Integrated kinder is part of long day care, so the kinder program runs within a full day, Monday to Friday, all year — including school holidays.
Can I add before and after care?
Yes. Before kinder (7:00–8:30am) is $23.25 pre-booked or $25.00 casual. After kinder (4:00–6:00pm) is $31.00 pre-booked or $33.00 casual. The Child Care Subsidy may apply.
What happens in the school holidays?
Free Sessional Kinder follows Victorian school terms, so it doesn’t run in the holidays. If you need care all year, Integrated Kinder runs 52 weeks a year.
Who teaches the kinder program?
A VIT-registered Early Childhood Teacher leads the program. It’s play-based and builds the social, language and early literacy and numeracy skills children need for school.
How much is the Free Kinder offset in long day care?
Eligible families receive up to $2,101 per child per year (2026 rate), taken off your fees on top of any Child Care Subsidy. The Victorian Government sets the rate each year.
